July 29–30 2023 — Bugaboo Provincial Park
Bugaboo Provincial Park is a place of unbelievable, world-class beauty—but it certainly makes you work for it to get there. The entire experience felt like stepping into another world, dominated by towering granite spires and ancient glaciers.
Once we survived the drive and hit the trail, the stress of the road completely melted away. The landscape here is dramatic in a way that photos barely capture. Every time we gained the ridge, a new towering granite monolith came into view, flanked by rivers of ice.
The hiking involved navigating huge granite slabs and rocky terrain, but the payoff was constant. Exploring the area, we also found a beautifully pristine alpine lake. The water was incredibly clear and completely still, reflecting the rugged landscape around it.
As evening approached, the fading sun hit the granite faces, lighting them up with an intense golden glow. Despite the harrowing drive and the overheated brakes on the way out, the Bugaboos delivered one of the most spectacular mountain experiences we've ever had. We left exhausted, a little dusty, and completely in awe.
