The BC Waterfall & Rafting Run
June 15 – 17, 2023 | 3 Days, 7 Waterfalls, and 1 Crazy Schedule
They say you need to wake up early to make the most of a road trip, but our crew took that to a whole new level. We kicked things off by meeting at Christian’s house at the ungodly hour of 3:00 AM on Thursday. Some people were literally still working their night shifts! But with a massive list of waterfalls to chase, rapids to ride, and rope courses to conquer, we loaded up the cars and hit the road toward British Columbia while the rest of the world was fast asleep.
The Hit List
Our first major stop was Wapta Falls right at daybreak. The sheer volume of water rushing over the edge was the perfect wake-up call after a sleepless night of driving. From there, it was a waterfall marathon—jumping from Kay Falls to Crazy Creek, soaking in the misty, freezing air.
By 9:00 AM, we traded our hiking boots for wetsuits. It was time for Hydra River Rafting. Getting geared up in the parking lot next to the Bronco was an event in itself. The water was glacial, but the adrenaline of hitting the white-water rapids kept everyone warm (mostly).
As if rafting wasn't enough for one morning, we headed straight to Skytrek Adventure Park. Hanging high up in the trees on ropes and suspension bridges tested everyone's balance, but the crew crushed it.
The afternoon was a blur of suspension bridges, scenic stops at Emerald Lake, and wandering through town to check out some incredible local ski-inspired art murals. The scenery across the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre was unbeatable.
We capped off the marathon day by chasing down even more waterfalls, including peering over the roaring edge at Frog Falls, before finally crashing at our campsite. Looking back, we crammed an entire week's worth of activities into a single weekend. Exhausting? Absolutely. Worth the 3:00 AM start? Without a doubt.
